I particularly love horror, horror-adjacent, and lesbian/trans/queer movies! But really, anything cheesey enough will likely hold a place in my heart! I'll try to link to somewhere to watch the movies, but won't be monitoring if they go down.
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar ~ 1995, BeeBan Kidron, Comedy
Trans rights are human rights, Drag queens are pillars of society, and abusive husband can fuck off and die. Who knew Wesley Snipes could go from ass kicking vampire hunter Blade to ass kicking movie-buff and fashionista Noxeema Jackson? The ultimate feel-good movie of the century!!
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark ~ 1988, James Signorelli, horror/comedy
I genuinly can't believe it took me so long to watch this movie! Sexy witch, gothic aesthetic, the actress who plays Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) is a recently out lesbian with a whole butch lover! By the transitive property, Elvira is also a lesbian. This is why she beats the shit out of every man who touches her but the one himbo (a male-passing he/him butch lesbian). I don't make the rules.
Re-Animator ~ 1985, Stuart Gordon, horror/sci-fi
Movie of all time. Practical effects and homoerotic tension, what else could I ask for in a Frankenstien knock-off? H.P Lovecraft, author of hte original novel, was a bigoted piece of shit, and aspects of that do translate into the movie even if they were purposefully toned down A LOT. Still, Herbert West remains one of my favourite unhinged mad scientists, if only for his completely unnecassary obsession with his "new (research) partner."
Princess Mononoke ~ 1997, Hayao Miyazaki, Fantasy
Environmental terrorism has never looked so breathtakingly gorgeous!! Die, capitalists, Mononoke did nothing wrong twenty twenty-forever.
